The 450 Club

Recommended Posts

Weirdest thing, I was going to post this last night but thought I would leave it for today so I have something to do at work  Now I see Noods has created a thread on 350s! I like his idea of questions so I'll use that :)

Exam questions

1. What is its nationality?

2. Where does it love to tear up?

3. What make up does it wear?

4. Does it make you happy?

1. Yamaha WR450F

2. The mixed up place called Wombat. I am not the biggest fan of single track, I really enjoy the open flowing trails

3. Black and white plastics, IMS 11.3 litre tank, flush mount rear indicators, my own tug strap  I am too pov to spruce it up right now

4. Yes. I give it an 8/10. If it didn't weigh more than my car I would give it a 10/10. It's a great bike and I love chugging around on it

Heres a couple of my 450r

post-917-0-57378000-1380787008_thumb.jpgpost-917-0-01698100-1380787100_thumb.jpg

Why did i buy it?

I wanted a pure race bike set up for enduro!

I wanted sharp handling and very slim ergos!

I wanted a great suspension package!

I wanted a super light bike with no electrics!

Where does it tear it up?

Whatever race is on I'm more than likely there haha

Or if I'm not racing I'm at springerZ trail riding or training with mates :)

What do i love about it?

The roll on power is soooo good!

And the pure torque just to bop over logs and trash is so easy!

And it handles and turns so well

What don't i like about it?

Well all jokes aside...nothing as yet that i really don't like

Nothing has worn prematurely,really!

Nothing out of the ordinary to piss me off lol(YET)

So thats me done i think

My specs

2009 Honda Crf 450r bought second hand a year and a half ago after being well ridden by other and probably raced.

  • Its torn my groin on the first outing
  • Its broken my ankle on the last MX run at Parwan  in April
  • It has a dodgy idle that wont decide if its to low or too high
  • It flames out easy when blipping the throttle at low speed, I have now got the HULK's right leg
  • I always think that I have trashed the clutch, but when I pull it down its always within spec - so I keep putting in, then taking out the Dynaring auto clutch.
  • It over heats easily. slow speed work and slippery hills
  • first gear is way too tall for snotty tight single

BUT I love this thing, it always gets me home with a smile on my face

Cujo, a bit of a list there mate...as Chris said, amy plan for resolving some of those points? Overheating would be a pain!!

I'm a proud member of the 450 club..

I love the look, the sound, the grunt, the reliability, and the color.. Haha

More power to you Jay!

I have been trying to address these issues and others.

Especially the busted groin and the broken Ankle! :o

  • Over heating is a pain but larger radiators, Dyno remapping have done very little. I am guessing there is a head gasket leak maybe
  • The Idle was the next thing to hit . My best guess is the Throttle position sensor is out of adjustment.
  • Flame outs ...God know, Tried heavier fly wheel,  new updated fuel pump....seems to be an issue if your read the forums. read bout corking the idle screw plunger to stop turbulence, but haven't pulled it down that far.
  • The clutch is a mix of the tall first gear and my bodggy ridding ability.
  •

Chris  more than happy for some guidance. And happy to spend the coin if you have the knowledge.

Thought of using a thermo fan

No Battery being an MX bike, but I have got a trail tech battery setup if I need to install it.

But I would like to find the cause before I go down that line.
