Barkbusters Ego Handguard

Recommended Posts

hey i got some ego handguards the other day and i thought i would review them

these are a great addition for any dirtbike

they saved my levers once already

good points:....

:easy to install once you know what to do

(even i,a stoopid 13 year old can do it)

:great hand and lever protection

comes in handy when you crash like me

:not in the way

bad points:

:have to cut throttle tube

:have to cut grip

thanks for reading my words of no wisdom

Good review Mr Speed - I have had several brands/models of barkbusters & currently run Ego's & like them heaps.

Cheers, Les

Nice bit of info.. Maybe a billet throttle tube could have been in order? No need to make a hole to insert the plug and you'll get a smoother roll.

Grip cutting is a pain, it can take a bit of "trimming" to get it looking nice and making sure it doesn't impede the throttle action..

Just my opinion, but if you lower the angle of your leavers a little to of a more of a 45 degree angle you will find your controls easier to use while in the standing / attack position..

Just my 2c worth.

i find my levers perfect for my size but thanks for the tip

I'm with you, I have the same degree set up as you and I love it ! I don't like my BB's pointing to the ground as if you stack and you're front wheel tucks in then that exposes other stuff they are ment to protect and deflect ( like brake cylinder etc )

im refuring to the plastic shield

on egos they feel really solid and in place

as on the vps model the plaqstic was sort of flimsy and weak

Mate Ive had that many falls and stacks it's not funny. Bent the alloy bar planty never had the plastic break.

In my experience, EGO Barkbusters only look the part when they're new and are not compliant for the riggors of off-road riding. The alloy part bends inward and interferes with my levers/throttle which only causes headaches mid-ride.

From now on I just run flex levers, and cheap plastic handguards which are enough to protect my hands from roost and have the ability to "bend back"
