2018 dirtriderZ Annual Weekend Beechworth

Recommended Posts

Wow what a weekend blast people even though I had to make a early exit Saturday arvo due to my wife and I double booking our Sunday events which lead to Geoffro suggesting I kick off the ride report.

IanM Bear Pepperjack Noodes PeteV Cruiser TrailZ (The Italian Adonis) Rider and myself attended Vesparacers Friday ride on the way up which included one of the best tracks Ive ever done (Pm me if you want a link to watch a Gumby in action). Thanks for the battery IanM.

We arrived in Beechworth round 5.30 after picking up some liquid pain killer at the IGA and then drove in the caravan park to see an impressive DirtriderZ sign which meant I was about to be surrounded by crackers dirt bikers just like me

Friday night entailed kebab beer fire more beer stories more beer shit I have to ride tomorrow goodnight.

A glorious Saturday morning brought us great weather and scenery while following Dirt Girlie's L2 through some fast flowing whooped tracks. There was an over the bars wash out sorry Im not sure who you were and The Italian Adonis himself(TrailZ) being takin out by a branch. I couldn't participate in the arvo ride so Im looking forward to reading about that.

Thank you so much to Fro and the Mods. Thank you to Dirt Girlie leading sorry Im not sure who our other lead was sweeps organisers and there partners for BBQ duties plus forum sponsors to make for a bloody great catch up for the off road community.

Another reason to keep the bloody forests open,we have a right to explore our own planet. Ok Ill put my soap box away now. 5aa744cff17f2d582f3908bb97e93222.jpg&key=867dd4559cc2504d25ebdd0e09a95e61381a15e9286955eda7506ef2cf3f32e16dda04ce313bbc3b04dc069849342edd.jpg&key=f9cd4f296df57ed1a70721d8567b7d1b3b028ab5be8c93dbdf84d2b4abec7ae351774d067802e28d50e507830d8ac5b1.jpg&key=18b97b78a3f40a7bf495bde7b9b352f3ab16fbc4c3e8a1ad2d9c1c3341e0f59689252b0cf485bf79b9c475138bc9943c.jpg&key=717f707436dfb73be77380ca3118b7ed220ce74041f9d12f6f27f57f771aec79

9th Annual Weekender done and dusted.

Wow! what can i say, yet another cracking weekend away with quality people.

I have a decent amount of pics to upload this year ( which i don't usually manage to get ) will upload later.

I, and from feedback i got, liked to location and the actual park itself, and also liked the riding up around Beechworth.

I love reading the ripper ride reports that get posted up every year, so i am going to keep mine brief.

Massive shout out and Thanks to the following,

Dirt Girlie - for all of her work behind the scenes sorting the rides and stuff out.

The leads and sweep riders. Miranda, .., Geoffyboy..

The girls for working the BBQ and making salads etc and feeding the masses. Donna, Tracey, Lynelle ( Guys, Destry and Felroy )

Vesparacer for taking some cool pics over the weekend for us.

Those we dragged up some of the prizes that i could not fit in to take. Yatesy, MrNoodle

Those who printed out and laminated the gift vouchers for me. ( Geoffyboy, Missmudd )

Those who purchased annual shirts and represent :)

Woodsy300 for giving the mods and admins a few little goodies, much appreciated!

The Park owners and staff..

The Admins and Mods for the staunch support and help.

And if i accidentally missed anyone, i am sorry.

Was great to see a lot of new faces, and meet some awesome new members, and to see all the old crew..

The list goes on and on, but i am a bit frazzled tonight, so may well add to this post tomorrow, or when things come back to me..

There is already talk and prep for next year ( the 10th anniversary ) its going to be an epic one to say the least.

Pics to follow, Thanks to all who attended and made it yet another memorable, cracker of a weekend.

Really looking forward to seeing all the pics and vid from the weekend...

Cheers

What a great weekender, started mid Friday morning when I caught up with egg and Geoffro at Seymour to convoy up the Hume to Beechworth. With plenty of banter over our UHF’s , we eventually arrived and met up with Geoffyboy and Coise. As we still had a few hours before we could check into our cabins, we decided to have lunch at the iconic Beechworth Bakery and then get some much needed supplies before we settled in at the caravan park to meet and greet the other attending members.

Saturday morning, most of us met up all ready to ride from the caravan park to the unloading area where the other riders were waiting for us. A quick discussion on how they wanted the day to run and we were off through the pine plantation towards our first stop at a massive cave/ mine.

From here the 45 of us followed the leads through some tracks which were dusty, rocky, flowing ,with the occasional slippery bits throughout the forest surrounding Beechworth. After about 50 odd km’s, we arrived back at the park for our BBQ lunch.

After lunch a few of us decided to kick back and enjoy the afternoon with a few beverages while the afternoon riders were gone.

Dinner and the night time giveaways were held at the Bridge Rd Brewery which had fantastic food and atmosphere.

After the festivities were over a few of us returned back to the park while others kicked on till the early hours at the pubs in Beechworth. What a great weekend away, and this just doesn’t happen without the dedication of the Admins and other members who organise everything so a big thank you to you all. Also a massive thanks to Miranda ( dirt girlie) who volunteered to help organise everything and lead the rides . Awesome job.

What’s up with that Berg or WR on the far right hand side? The photo shows no front end on it. That would be a challenge

Maybe Bigfoot ate it or the panther stole it?

Won a certificate for 2019 Stockmans Rally. Great prize thanks .

Lost certificate in Beechworth somewhere between Pub and Taxi approx 1:00am Sunday morning.

Not sure if it is transferable. But hoping it isn't

Also lost a motorex Banner and my shirt around the same time.

But these may have been given to a couple of Locals who really wanted them.

I am pretty sure peterv gave chase at some stage. But he is only quick on the dirt bike.

Our day started Friday  morning when Nat says she wants to take her car to drive around town instead of the Hilux,so off I go to super cheap auto for trailer connections ect.end up ready to leave about 11.00 :arrabbiato-04:

Was a cruisey  drive up just over 3 and a half hours and on arrival seeing all the great 2018 annual shirts we knew we were he right park, quick check in to our cabin and it was over to say hi and have a few beers as others flowed in.

:happy-04:fairly early night the Friday after lots of the usual banter these weekends bring out ,I think it was more to do with the weather changing from nice and warm to instant cold when the sun goes down.

woke up keen as mustard for the ride so changed and up at the waiting area and waiting for a few stranglers to gear up before we met up with the rec registered people who trailered to the meeting point in the Forrest.

the ride started well with 40-50 bikes i think  and we were all traveling well until I hit a washout the wrong way or to hard and got  bucked side ways  and landed on my ribs hard before sliding down the track on my head, :arrabbiato-05: after taking time to get my breath back I could tell my ride and fun was over.it was to painful to stand or move to much on the bike so the rest of the ride was completed sitting on my backside.(thanks to Lucy Goose for some pain relief at the next stop)

the terrain was great  and was kicking myself because the  later tracks were  rippers, getting off the bike to push it over the logs bloody hurt just as much and was very frustrating. :bandierabianca-01:

Will leave the rest of the ride description to others as i was just in get home  mode lol.

arriving back we had a bbq cooked by Donna,Felroy,Tracey,Lynelle cheers guys

We went to the brewery for dinner and plenty of giveaways and some hilarious banter and flowing beer.

would like to give a shout out to Dirt Girlie (Miranda) for her leading us around her back yard and great little town :applauso-01:

to the sweeps Geoffyboy and friend (not sure who it was)

to Geoffro and crew thanks for making everyone welcome as you do as it is so much easier to attend these things when thee wife can have a laugh also, special mention to Dusty for the pre ride park organisation, even though he couldn’t attend :adulazione-01:

thanks to the caravan park and bridge road brewers for the hospitality :spaghetti-01:

hope I haven’t forgotten to anybody and look forward to next years big one !

Cheers too he fabulous sponsors that donated all our great prizes

Friday

My weekender started on the Friday with a ride around Bright. Initially I intended to lead this ride but Vesparacer kindly offered and since he knows the trails better than me I happily accecpted. I picked up PeteV in the next suburb and was greeted with coffee and a bacon and egg toastie massive cheers MrsV! We were running about 20 mins late by the time we got there but a few of the others had already gone off for a quick warm up so we gear up then 10 of us head out onto the grading hill to see how everyone will go.

f1b50e1a2dd71fc3252e1a91c709ad79.jpg

I volunteered to sweep and with the lead rider we watched everyone get up with a little bit of encouragement from us which was great until we both attacked and stuffed the hill! We did some sweet trails which I have done most of before but Vesparacer links it all together nicely. We attacked a shaley, rocky and steep hill climb that I had attempted unsuccessfully once before 4 years ago but have never been able to find it again. A bit of carnage was unfolding in front of me and I dodged a few but eventually ended up stuck behind 2 other riders so tried to get going again but to steep and lack of traction required me to turn around and give it another go. I nailed it the next time and celebrated at the top with a couple of others. A bit later we hear this deep growling sound coming from down the hill a bit and it almost sounds like a bike is in trouble but no it wasn't, it was the best celebration and it came from Andy350. Eventually the growling turned into cheering with horn and revving followed with some hooting and hollering, safe to say he was pretty happy with himself. Once all bikes were up we continued on to a fantastic lookout at Mt. Porepunkah surrounded with mountains and lots of them still capped with snow.

I had a bit of a scary moment when a branch snapped and went under my boot strap and deflected off the front of my boot, I was scared to look down as there was a fair bit of pressure but luckily the Sidis had done their job. A bit of transport was required to get to some awesome tracks then followed by one of my favourite tracks at Bright. Its tough and tight and goes on and on, then gets wet and rocky and keeps going on! After I let PeteV and Cruiser past while I grabbed a photo I started feeling bad for the others who said they will wait at the start so I thought I should turn around and head back. I also didn't know if PeteV and Cruiser knew that the track had no way out and that we had to turn around at the end anyway. I intended to turn around but for some reason the KTM kept wandering further into the tracks till I finally caught back up to the boys and we called it a draw and headed back for the others. A few more great tracks on the way home and another hill that I hadn't got up a few years ago was ticked off the list and we arrive back at the cars with a quick debrief over a froth before heading back on to Beechworth in convoy.

We arrived at the park and yell a few greeting before unpacking and drying our gear for tomorrows ride with a few more froths in hand. Head up to greet the crew and have a tasty kebab served by Benji Marshall washed down with a few more froths around a few different circles of members as more dirtriderz slowly roll in. I yakked at the BBQ area for a while then headed for the fire with Mr and Mrs Sheeney. The flames were barely going so we topped up with a heap of timber and in no time she was roaring and pumping out the heat. Plenty of banter was had but I headed for bed around 12 leaving Rider and PeteV yakking each others ears off.

To be continued........

Arrived at Bright on Friday morning. Followed Vesparacer around for a couple of rides amongst the steep hills Bright has to offer. Covered approx 60ks. Great way to fill a Friday afternoon.

Arriving at Beechworth Caravan park in time for kebab diner and a catch up with others. My Cabin was the front cedar Cabin with the Dirtriderz sign draped across the balcony. Was a nice Cabin.

Sat round the fire for a while whilst my helmet pads and boots dried by the heater.

The morning ride came round and yep it was Dusty. Took in a couple of sights, Back in time for a BBQ lunch.

Headed out again in the afternoon for another ride. The Dust was really bad. Could barely see some of the guys on corners till i was nearly on them. A couple of break downs and back to the Caravan Park in time to shower for a walk into Town for a feed at the Brewrey.

Lots of Laughs and Ribs for dinner. Everyone won a prize. I liked that aspect of the night. I bid on a helmet. But Rider out bid me and claimed a new lid.

I won next years Stockmans Entry. Looks like I will have to organize another Stockmans ride for next year.

After the Brewrey went to local Pizza shop for Pizza. Then strolled down the road to the local Pub. The drinks were flowing. The live band was pumping. I was happy to sit quietly in the corner and watch the youngens party hard.

Caught a Taxi home and the chatting contiued on Noodles balcony. this wasnt appreciated so we moved into my Cabin. I didnt last much longer after this and morning came round way too fast.

Drove to Wodonga the next morning to catch up with a mate watching a bit of Bathurst. Heading home later in the day feeling like I had had a good break from the norm.

Thanks goes to all involved behind the scenes.

Special thanks to organizers of Stockmans Rally for the prize.

Dirt girlie...........Well done cheers for your efforts.

Vesparacer. ..............we will ride again.

Till we ride again

My second annual Dirtriderz weekend and what a memorable one this one will be...  me thinks it will be talked about for years to come lol

As @MrNoodle mentioned Friday's organised pre-ride was a great challenge especially after only having a limited amount of sleep the night before!

Thanks to @Vesparacer for leading us thru some great challenging terrain. :tifo-06:

Saturday's ride was one to remember big thanks to @dirt girlie leading us around them there hills. Fresh and with more sleep Friday night I got my Mojo back until a small tree overhanging the track decided to stop me in my trax... but rode thru it determined not to let it spoil the days riding...

Just a tip for future rides... if there is anything overhanging over the track it might be a good time to have a rider stop A. to remove it from the trail or B. to worn coming riders to avoid it.

The whole days ride flowed really well and everything that went up and up sure did come down in them there hills hahaha

Great bbq for lunch and straight back on the pegs with a great ending to the ride with a track that... had a ribbon to enter the forest and that was all lol :trattore-01:

With the days warm weather a drink or two was well needed and a brewery was a great place to start at with great banter and awesum prizes...

Of course the night didn't end there and in true Dirtriderz spirit the local pub was where we headed... with a few drinks under the belt I lost my mobile phone that i've only had for 3 months and a search that took me 2 and a half hours with no success... aarrghh

Overall an epic weekend.

Thanks to all the Dirtriderz mods and Geoffro for put it on for us.

Pics and vid to come...
