Bear in the Swamp - 21 Jul 2018

Recommended Posts

Quick note to say thanks to Bear and PeteV for leading us around Paddys Swamp. There was grip for days - well in most places.

A few decent offs as well, but I'll let those who had them tell their stories.

I'll add more details later... putting this up as I know CentralVics camera worked today and he has a video or two ready to go (unlike last time where he "lost all the footage" - sure it did mate :P)

great ride today fellas and nice to meet new member andrew(good rider too !)

It's not often bear takes a tumble and to catch it on video made it really special :P

I was riding fairly well, or so i thought, saw a nice little downhill jump and thought i'd give it a go. clipped a low branch then i was well out of control, bike going everywhere and me in a different direction. Hit the ground pretty hard and just lay there for a while trying to assess the damage. marko and trailz turned up and give me a hand and then started asking me all sorts of questions about what what went in in the hotel room last night under the pretense that they were checking me for concussion ?  hmmm

Got a sore ankle, elbow, shoulder and hip but most of the damage was to the ego.

Good day at Paddys Swamp today, plenty of grip with new tyre and some fun tracks, big thanks to Bear for organizing and leading this ride and also PeteV for leading. Highlight of the day is finding CentralVic`s 2 stroke upside down and him not moving next to the bike, looked scary but after checking on him he was OK but will definitely have few bruises. No photo from me from that incident but I was itching to get that camera out and take a photo, missed out on a great shot :P. Please someone bring a taser gun if Trailz is coming on a ride, I cant believe how much can he talk, he talks before the obstacle, during the obstacle and after the obstacle so we need to taser him every time he stops to talk and hopefully he starts moving after that ASAP :D, Trailz you are a funny man and fun to ride with. Thanks boys had a great day and just cant believe how hard was to wash my bike after today's ride, it was like concrete on the bike .

Fun day today , Anglesea is always awesome after rain and everything was wet except the sky today which made it perfect . Thanks for organising the ride Bear and letting me sweep then lead for a while . I haven’t been out there in ages so it was good to get back out there . Great to catch up and ride again wth many familiar faces and to meet Drew also. Ride flowed pretty good with seven of us . A few offs here and there from various reports , myself included. Central vic took out the crown for the biggest off by a long shot from what I heard and is very lucky to get away with bumps and bruises.
Trailz mentioned the two strokes were out numbered today for a change.
Never mind the two strokes still won the event with them never needing a push all day unlike though heavy 4 bangers. Here’s a few pics I managed to take along the way. ac37d194cf5695048dc5b66e83a8c6e1.jpgea052a60b77f3274b72d27bfd61f666d.jpg861b5bf4bb7421d5e69d98260706537b.jpg9e71a5f33b6880a4505fb6fead017601.jpg125c85bdf7d189caac3d733427a5df1a.jpgd761c6d8ad1e1c6765380d252710c835.jpg4ced06f7d25b83156ae14c8d4537d41c.jpg0e646a1b5f00b5e27167ddfacf769272.jpg40167486eef8aed28beb460346c93592.jpg539f556fdf6ac6b92138e9ec8a5f7066.jpg4dd74204a3901b811856d9cd82a8ef73.jpg687a85f15d791209bf4e4925bb2056f4.jpga0cc67302e691e61a9c2dedae889fa5c.jpg6c2d9c680d82c7e5038d4ab07182321e.jpg

Had a great ride yesterday with the guys, first dirtriderz ride and an absolute blast.

After a chilly ride out to paddys from anglesea managed to warm up quite quicky on some very fun tracks.

Had a few close calls and nearly ended up laying down in a decent sized puddle but managed to save myself.

Thanks to bear for letting me jump on board and pete for leading/ sweeping, everyone else for being so hospitable and trailz for some laughs!

Can't wait for the next one.

Wish I could've gotten on this ride, love Bears rides and that area is great. I've done a lot of those tracks on the DR650 (in the summer though and a few in the reverse direction of whtat you guys did; big difference to the wickedly wet conditions you guys had!). Love all the vids.

Shame there was a couple of offs; hope everyone is ok and heals up quick.

I'm definitely in for the next one.

The wet sand will see 2x 80 km rides wear a new pair of cheap pads down to the metal. Even the mid priced pads chew out just as fast. Oem do last longer but not twice as long. That’s what I have found.

What an awesum day out riding... i thought pre ride i'd be outta my depth with the calibre of the riders on the pegs and i definitely was. The pace was up most of the day with a few slick bits here and there... overall lot's of grip. Thanks to everyone for your support throughout the day... Bear for organizing the ride and PeteV and CentralVic for sweeping and leading various parts of the 38klms covered.
