Grampians Camping Location... This is the place to stay

Recommended Posts

As a few of you know that I went up to the Grampians over the Anzac weekend with my youngest daughter, my brother and his girlfriend.

We stayed at Mackas Scout Camp Ground (cooinda-burrong) for a couple of nights. https://www.vicscouts.com.au/cooinda-burrong-scout-camp.html and we had an absolute ball.

Well I tell you that this is one place to stay and use as a base camp for either Motorbike riding, 4WD, hiking or even just a nature bush walk.

This place has all your requirements in one place. Full kitchen, Loungeroom, Games room, TV room even hot showers. There is enough sleeping for heaps of people.

There is tons and tons of firewood readily available to keep the fire going during your stay. And to sit around at night time with a few beverages, a bbq (there is heaps of them) or toasting the marshmallows with the kids.

We went 4WD through the Grampians and also rock climbing to view some of the best views I have seen.

There are plenty of places to visit in the area. Lookouts, Waterfalls, lakes, rivers.

So if your looking for a place to go over a weekend or long weekend get in contact with Macka from here (http://www.dirtriderz.com/profile/2208-macka040872/?wr=eyJhcHAiOiJmb3J1bXMiLCJtb2R1bGUiOiJmb3J1bXMtY29tbWVudCIsImlkXzEiOjExMDExLCJpZF8yIjoyNTM0MDJ9) and he will point you in the right direction. So leave your caravan, camper at home.

Ohh and Macka wont charge a heap of $$$$ like the surrounding motels.

Enjoy some of the photos below which will hopefully get you to visit this great area.

It took us aprox 3.5hrs to get there from Melbourne with a couple of stops.

I am trying to get back here for this.

Finally we have another camper and made it to The Grampians after saying nearly three years ago I wanted to go there with the Family

Like what has been said above , its a fantastic place with great facilities and amazing beauty of the surrounding sights and attractions

We arrived on the Saturday , set up camp  and then did some exploring on the pushies , then BBQ dinner

Sunday drive to Halls Gap and walk the 5hr round trip from HG to the top called the Pinnacles  ( very tough steep walk ) But also can be done from higher up carparks which makes it much easier for the softies.

Mon 5 of us rode  the 4.6 km to Zumsteins where we met with other family members to continue walking to Fish falls then to Mackenzie falls and all the way back ( easy enjoyable walk along the river with spectacular scenery and waterfalls )

Hopefully there will be another Dirtriderz meet here for me to enjoy again at some point

Cheers to  Macka for making this available and the work he puts in at the Cooinda Scout park where we stayed.
