Thats a concern that your pipe got that hot to melt your pipe guard.2t pipes usually run fairly cool if set up correctly so it sounds like your jetting is far to lean or your timing is to far advanced.

Might be a bodgy product but still seems lean to get that hot. Plug colour doesn't mean much if the readings aren't done to the letter and this takes alot of time and knowledge. Jd kit is just a combo that can or can't be correct.

The company that makes the pipe gaurds said in there last batch they made up,they've had a couple do it and wasn't melted just discolored as pictured.Got the jd jetting kit in it mate spark plugs running on the blacker side?
Did they replace the carbon pipe guard Bruce?
Theres been a shit batch of carbon pipe guards.they were all burning.not jetting or bike set up related at all!!we have had a few come back for warranty at Motogc

Only tried it for a bit out up and down the street so far so not to sure - Felt great there.
I fitted a 3 gallon zipty tank and a wr400 fuel tap with reserve and also a 11oz flywheel weight.

Got it "Chaderised" swing arm/linkages greased, mousse tubes and different tyres, B&B bash plate and rad guards, Stegpegz, and some other various bling...
Then took it out for a run in ride today.
Bolting my head back on after TSP mod with jetting to suit Ps new pipe guard hasn't burnt at all after similar hours use to the old one.
Fitted a Yoshi slip on and Jet bark busters to my 17 350 excf
