Direct Injection 2 Stroke

When do you think we are going to see the first direct injection two stroke dirt bikes ? Most of the major car manufacturers have 2 stroke car motors in development (the Chrysler neon was supposed to come out with a two stroke engine) Toyota has a 2.3 lt straight six 2 stoke engine that makes the same power as a 454 V8, BPR make direct injection 2 stroke engines snow mobiles and boat motors and KTM now have fully working designs that they are not going to produce until the euro 3 emission's laws kick in.

These engines have more power than ever, the emission's are lower than a 4 stroke and better fuel economy, cheaper to build, lighter, and no more mixing oil and fuel with oil being directed where its needed only.

The reason i started this topic was i comment i read on a web site saying that "2 strokes are dead because they were at the end of development and that 4 strokes are at the start" but it seems to be the opposite all the "new" things that come out on 4 stroke dirt bikes has been developed years ago, the germans had fuel injection in there fighter planes in WWII and its only become mainstream in bikes in the last decade , its all stuff developed in cars finally coming to bikes.

I think 2 stroke were cut well short of there potential, what happened to Honda EXP-2 system? i also read an article where Bill gates has put 23 million into 2 stroke engine development (OPOC engine)

That athena bike has some power for a 50cc

The E-Tec engine on the snow mobile cuts of the exhaust port and injects that would get you almost 100% efficiant charge i think normally you lose 30% through the port if you could do that on a dirt bike it would have some serious grunt as well as a lot cleaner. the ossa from what i can tell has two injectors in front of the reeds which would still lose alot of the fuel air mix through the exhaust port.

Husqvarna enduro-offensief 2013 printButton.png emailButton.png

This will in 250 and 300 cc implement to be placed on the market. The block is totally new and rumors speak of a direct injection of gasoline into the cylinder, but it may be that that item only in 2014 the production will come and that the WR in 2013 still will be supplied with carburetor. The TE449R is goodbye to the BMW block. Husqvarna has now developed a new block itself, a cross between their old TE450 (which include the Super Moto has done so well with many world titles) and the hugely successful TE250/TE310 X-light. That is why the TE449 also the nickname 'X-Light it. Besides this great news will also be present TE250 and TE310 significantly upgraded.
