Maximum range between refuels is 100kms, so you would only need to carry extra fuel as 'insurance' to get that distance. I know some bikes struggle for that distance on standard tanks. We are looking to make it less.

The re-fuel plan is to have a top up, with fuel provided by AMTRA, at no more than 100 km. Then there is a servo on the Sat ride where riders can also top up as they want to make it back, with return distance from the servo of around 50km.

2T riders need to carry their own oil to mix into the fuel. At each refuel there will be a way to know how much fuel is going in.

Last year I ran both my 07 WR450F and 09 CRF250X around the course at reasonable pace to a dry standard tank. Both got to 130km before going dry.

Added around 5L for the 2012 Saturday course. The other riders were about the same and it was a mix of 4T from small to big and a 2T bike. For the 2012 Sunday course I needed about an extra 1/2 litre to get back o.k.
thanks matt i might sign up just see if goutman has his bike back and is up to scratch many spots left?

Still lots of places, it is filling on track though so don't leave it too late.

Remember to put in DirtriderZ as the team name.

The ride is now "half-full", so if you want to ride don't wait too long to enter.

We also now have the official nod for rec reg bikes, under an approved operation.

The HCR is now 2/3 full, which means there are about 80 spots left. It is capped at 250 riders. If you intend to enter but have not yet done so, get a move on as would hate to see you miss out.

Remember to put Dirtriderz in the team name - there will be a prize of some sort.

What the level of the ride? I'm guessing 4-5?

I would class this a level 2, with some level 3 bits. Hard bits either have an easier bypass or will have people to help get you through. All open firetrail, or twin track, with no single trail. The biggest challenge is the length the hill climbs and descents go for, plus many of the tracks are rocky.

As of the weekend there are less than 50 spots left for the ride. If you are thinking of it, stop thinking and sign up. Not only is it some great riding but the buzz around the campsite is a big part of the weekend.

Regards,

Mat.

Cheers mat

I think I'm alright at going up hills but goin down is my greatest fear in riding, rock is okay but depends how big. How big is the ride going to be?

It will help you get over your fear! Just lots of rocks, rather than really big ones. There are 250 riders plus support riders. It is a self seeded start so if you hang back a bit you won't get lots passing you. The other benefit is you get to see where the harder parts are and the support riders will probably be there helping others that are getting stuck.

If you handle Level 2 then you should be o.k. We have not left any riders stuck out on the track yet.
